Why LAGMC/USC: On interview, I felt that the program cared for their diverse and underserved patient population, with incredible compassion and dignity. Additionally, the residents seemed kind, welcoming, and supportive! Now, I believe that all of the above is true, and it creates a wonderful learning environment here.

Why LAGMC/USC: I wanted to work with an underserved population and care for patients with complex social situations. Also when I visited for my 2nd look I felt like all the residents seemed really close and supportive of each other!

Why LAGMC/USC: I loved my Sub-I because I felt welcomed, supported and accepted! The residents and attendings exhibited the qualities that I aspired to have as a doctor especially when working with LA’s diverse patient population.

Why LAGMC/USC: I was initially drawn to this program because of its diverse and vulnerable patient population that we’d have the privilege to care for. Having VIP clinic on campus was another unique aspect that was very appealing. However, what truly solidified my decision to choose this program was the incredibly supportive and positive culture that was evident from day one!

I could just feel the tremendous amount of passion for our patients and local community that all our residents and staff have. It has been such a blast learning how to best take care of the cutest kiddos alongside my newest best friends!!

Why LAGMC/USC: I was really drawn to the program after learning about the program’s dedication to caring for underserved families. I knew this was a program where I could grow as both an advocate and a pediatrician while also being able to move closer to family.
Plans after residency: My goal is to do an Adolescent Medicine Fellowship. I’d like to work at an Ado Clinic in the future or maybe be at a mom-baby clinic. -

Why LA General/USC: I have always dreamt of a place where everyone is welcome with open arms, regardless of race, language or literally anything and after doing an away at LA General I knew this was the place for me from day 1. Everyone I met had a heart of gold and CARED so much about their patients. It was really hard to picture my life without being a part of a team that was able to provide exceptional care to such a diverse community.

Why LA General/USC: Community was very important to me, both the service in the community of patients serve and the strength of community within the residency program. From the start, LAG/USC felt like home and it was clear I wanted to be at a program with likeminded individuals who strive to provide excellent care for underserved folks. I also have a special interest in serving minority Spanish speaking populations and wanted a program that reflect this in their patient population.
Plans after residency: I would like to possibly pursue fellowship in Cardiology, either adult or pediatric, and pursue a career in Adult Congenital Heart Disease -
