Where patient care comes first

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Pediatric Residency Program at Los Angeles General Medical Center/University of Southern California (USC).

Our mission is to provide a patient-centered and resident-driven education for physicians caring for the underserved and underrepresented.

Our program offers the educational opportunities and clinical experiences needed to enter any area of pediatrics. The primary teaching facility is the Los Angeles General Medical Center.

We believe that the residents are our greatest strength. Our housestaff is a carefully chosen group of individuals who join faculty members who are committed to the delivery of healthcare to the underserved population of Los Angeles County. They are an amazing group of physicians who take care of their patients as well as each other.

Message from Pediatric Residency Program Director:

LAGMC/USC Pediatrics has a long history of providing elite care to the most vulnerable children of Los Angeles County no matter their background. Our goal is to recruit and train residents that are future role models to other physicians. We have such a privilege as program to build habits and promote principles that will last for many years. We hope those habits include a constant desire to provide the most compassionate care to patients and families, to learn and teach others, as well as promote practices and policies that improve equity.

Associate Program Directors’ Goals

“I am so excited to be leading a brand-new Pediatric Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee. We are partnering and collaborating with the campus's existing DEI efforts in an effort to build community and recruit residents that reflect the amazing diversity of our patient population. I am also hoping to provide increased support for resident quality improvement projects since the residents have so many great ideas. And finally, I am working with a group of residents on a project dedicated to promoting small group learning within our weekly Problem Rounds. I am looking forward to seeing these projects through and working on whatever else the residents come up with!”
